Fewer, well-built pages beat a large, half-finished site.
The direct answer
Most first-time authors need somewhere between five and seven core pages — enough to introduce you, introduce the book, and give people a way to reach you. Beyond that, additional pages (events, a blog, a press kit) can be added later as they become genuinely useful, rather than built upfront on the chance they'll be needed.
What can wait
An events page makes sense once you actually have events. A blog is only worth adding if you'll genuinely keep it updated — an abandoned blog looks worse than no blog at all. A dedicated press kit page becomes useful once media interest is real, not before. None of these need to exist on day one.
Where this fits into the full package
This 5–7 page range is exactly what's included in CDMworld's Author Launch Package, built around your actual bio and book rather than generic filler text.
